Leadership

Developing character and leadership is a key element of our balanced education and our students’ sense of wellbeing and belonging.

We view leadership as an opportunity to serve others. Our inclusive leadership culture connects every student and supports them to step up and serve their school and wider community from an early age.

The character of our students, especially our senior role models, is what makes the tone and flavour of our school environment so special. A wide range of formal and informal leadership opportunities are woven into the fabric of our school climate, empowering every student to get involved and explore their individual leadership capacity, to find their place and purpose and set themselves up for success post school.

Leadership at Central Coast Grammar

Our expansive cocurricular program creates leadership opportunities as captains of different sports and performing arts activities, as well as individual representative teams, squads and ensembles.

International community service action includes an outreach connection and an annual humanitarian tour to Cambodia which has raised funds to build over 130 houses in its ten year history.

From Year 2 students can learn about student voice and student action on the Student Representative Council, introducing activities and facilities for their peers and supporting projects in the wider community. 20 hours of student driven community service becomes compulsory in Year 9. Our inclusive Prefect body offers opportunities for all who have demonstrated the commitment to serve by completing the Strive to Lead Diploma in the Senior College which includes completing a community service project in Year 10.

Strive to Lead Leadership Diploma

The diploma is an opportunity to learn leadership skills through workshops, a fortnightly seminar program and service to others and is of huge benefit for those seeking leadership roles in the community and in the future.

To complete the diploma students must have designed and delivered a community service project in Year 10 and presented it to their House Family, participated in all House Carnivals, led a House Family activity, be enrolled in a school cocurricular activity, been involved in some form of mentoring at school, have completed an in school service activity and have completed 20 hours of sustained community service over a minimum period of three months. It’s a robust diploma requiring a high standard of commitment.

"Some of the most reluctant students have truly surprised and delighted us when they took the initiative to step in and step up,” Jacki Lynch, Head of Middle School.
